When I began searching for a celebrant I really didn't know where to start. From who to pick and why. I had an idea of what I didn't want but other than that I felt lost. Paul was leaving the decision to me so that didn't help. While I had researched and contacted a few, Marilyn was the first celebrant that I spoke to over the phone. In that first conversation I decided that she was the one for us. Marilyn from the beginning took a genuine interest. The conversation was warm and friendly, and our friendship has just grown from there. Hello Marilyn, It is with pleasure that we do this little testimonial for you. Even though we both live in Canberra we decided on the Gold Coast as our wedding venue. After surfing the web we found Marilyn’s website and there was just something about the site that made the decision for us pretty easy. What a great choice we made. Marilyn made us feel welcome and comfortable from the first time we met in her home. Nothing was too much trouble for her and all the arrangements were simple and straight forward. At least that is the way Marilyn made it feel. Most of our interaction from then on was over the phone or via email right up until our rehearsal for our special day, but again nothing was too much trouble. On our wedding day Marilyn even made sure she knew what colours the girls in our wedding party were wearing so that she made sure she was dressed to match. It is the little things that count. Even though the weather was not our best friend on the day, Marilyn took it all in her stride and never let it affect her professional attitude. The plus side was the rain just before the ceremony made us move from the beach to inside the surf club. Our guests thought this was a much better option as everyone was able to hear and see what was going on the whole time. Given our wedding was the second time for both of us the memory of this day will last forever. We especially loved the sand ceremony where our two blended families were able to create a special long lasting bond. Marilyn joined in the fun of our wedding vows, even though they were a little different. We are sure if you ask Marilyn she may even let you see them. From the very first time we met Marilyn, we felt as if there was something magical happening. It may have only been via Skype, but we finally felt contented in having found the exact person we wanted - she ticked all our boxes. Marilyn had a warm, calm and confident presence and we soon arranged a meeting at her lovely home to start the ball rolling. She was professional, caring, respectful and open minded. She employed a very elegant technique of collaborative creation - helping to design our wedding ceremony with as much or little help from her as we wanted. There were no rights or wrongs, no pressure, only help and support. If we wanted to be in full control of our wedding, that was fine. If we wanted Marilyn to take full control, that was fine also. But in the end, we worked together almost symbiotically, bouncing ideas off each other, learning about each other and fine-tuning our ceremony. It was amazing how quickly Marilyn felt like an old friend. It was evident from the 'Love Story' that Marilyn had created for us, that she understood us very well. On our actual wedding day, it was raining at first, but almost miraculously the clouds parted and all became calm over the water just as our ceremony was about to start. Our ceremony flowed beautifully and Marilyn took us and everyone present on a wonderful journey. At times we laughed, at times we cried, it had the full gamut of emotions. We had the most amazing afternoon and were able to get many incredible photos, just before a storm rolled through during the reception. WOW what an awesome RocknRoll wedding!!! Mandy & Dave were looking for a celebrant who could create a Rockabilly themed wedding for them that was relaxed, fun and upbeat, so they contacted me and we hit it off straight away. I have a passion for dancing and have danced competition Rock n Roll and have been a 50’s music fan since listening to 50s & 60s records and on the Juke Boxes in the Vintage RocknRoll Cafes. I recommended that they contact my friends and dance teachers, Chrissy & Ray, to learn to dance and they incorporated their surprise choreographed dance after the ceremony. Chrissy did their hair and makeup as she is an expert in creating the 50’s styling. They had fabulous Pete Vegas sing throughout the ceremony and for their first dance and performed a show after dinner. They rocked up in the fabulous vintage car and had so many awesome photos taken with it. Their good friend Natalie from Spaghetti & Jazz surprised them by dressing as Marilyn Monroe and sang Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend as a feature in their Wedding Ceremony. The food at Spaghetti & Jazz was great and the hospitality second to none!!

On behalf of Nigel and myself, I just wanted to say a very big, and much appreciated, thank you for the wonderful effort you put into making our special night so memorable. When I was looking for a celebrant I noticed in all the photos on Marilyn’s website, she looked so happy to be part of a couple’s very special day. From the moment I met her, I knew Marilyn was the right celebrant for us, as we wanted to celebrate something very unique. As we had already done the traditional wedding thirty years ago, we wanted something completely different……… so we had a Mad Hatters Tea Party. Marilyn pulled out all stops dressing up as the Mad Hatter and writing well scripted vows. As a surprise ceremony to our guests, it was like watching a theatre production. It turns out, Marilyn has a background in Theatre and she completely made the night. All of our guests commented on how wonderful it was and wanted to know where on Earth we found Marilyn. Some of our guests cut short holidays to come to what they thought was our party but was actually a surprise wedding renewal. They said afterwards they would not have wanted to miss this for anything. She is very funny, sincere, kind and the script showed all of this with some great laughs, but it still had all the traditional love built in. Our only regret was not hiring her husband to take video footage of the night. We cannot thank Marilyn enough for everything she did for us for us in the lead up to and including on the night.
